3f7178afe7 giter8: limit platforms to those the jre supports 
meta.platforms was absent rather than wrong, and check-meta only applies
the platform check when the attribute exists, so giter8 was offered on
every system including those with no jre.

92152802e2 giter8: rework update script 
Applies the same rework as scalafmt, whose copy of this script it was:
package.nix is restored unless the whole run succeeds, downgrades and
implausible tags are refused, $UPDATE_NIX_ATTR_PATH is honoured, logging
goes to stderr and the `commit` updateScript feature is supported, with
shellcheck running over it at build time.

The two scripts are identical apart from the attribute path each falls
back to when run by hand.

fef19552ee giter8: replace the install check with a passthru test 
The two checked the same thing. testers.testVersion on
finalAttrs.finalPackage keeps the coverage -- ofborg and reviewers run
passthru.tests -- without re-running the check on every local rebuild,
and tests overrides rather than a re-called package.
