- add bustedCheckHook in the nativeCheckInputs and busted will run when
doCheck is enabled. You can customize its call via "bustedFlags" and
prevent it from running with "dontBustedCheck". If "nlua" is
available, busted will automatically run busted with nlua as
interpreter (already done in lux). Goal is to standardize the writing
of tests so that if feels less like copy & paste.
- removed the default checkPhase from buildLuarocksPackage which was
running "luarocks test". None of the plugins was using as far as I
know because no plugin out there (maybe 2 or 3) uses that ? it could
be considered a breaking change but in practice I dont think it is.
After final improvements to the official formatter implementation,
this commit now performs the first treewide reformat of Nix files using it.
This is part of the implementation of RFC 166.
Only "inactive" files are reformatted, meaning only files that
aren't being touched by any PR with activity in the past 2 months.
This is to avoid conflicts for PRs that might soon be merged.
Later we can do a full treewide reformat to get the rest,
which should not cause as many conflicts.
A CI check has already been running for some time to ensure that new and
already-formatted files are formatted, so the files being reformatted here
should also stay formatted.

which contains lua shell utilities that can be reused during the
creation of an environment.
Makes sense because the generation of LUA_PATH is a bit different than
other ecosystems.
the setup-hook checks if a derivation contains lua files matching
lua_path patterns. We use bash's globstar extension for that but
`**.lua` doesn't return files in subfolders, it has to be `**/*.lua`.
Adjust the pattern accordingly.
the 'http' package is an interesting one to test because all its lua
files are in a 'http' subfolder, ie., there is no share/lua/5.1/*.lua,
only share/lua/5.1/http/*.lua files unlike most packages. This tests we
can match those subfolders.
now that the lua interpreters include working directories with `./?.lua`
in LUA_PATH, the current test includes every derivation which quickly
becomes unreadable and unpractical.
The test is adapted to add a folder only if it can find lua files in the
subfolder.
In order to have the 'reset' LUA_PATH (aka `;;`) work, and for purity
reasons(removing /usr paths) we(I) decided to patch the lua interpreters default LUA_PATH.
Turns out the interpreters have different defaults and the patch was too
coarse.
There is smarter patching that can be done via LUA_ROOT.
Also luajit doesn't need patching at all since LUA_ROOT is set via the
build system.
somehow, between all my testing, all the code review, and my code being copy-pasted into
other people's PRs, noone noticed the glaring issue in the singular line of code i committed.
there was a missing negation. this has now been fixed.

which is very confusing. With this PR, we correctly override the src and
the version of the package. We introduce a rockspecVersion attribute of
lua package to be able to still find the rockspec when the
"version" field needs to be different than "rockspecVersion".
Neovim plugins are now more often than not written in lua.
One advantage of the lua ecosystem over vim's is the existence of
luarocks and the rockspec format, which allows to specify a package
dependencies formally.
I would like more neovim plugins to have a formal description,
"rockspec" being the current candidate.
This MR allows to use nix lua packages as neovim plugins, so as to enjoy
every benefit that rockspecs bring:
- dependdency discovery
- ability to run test suite
- luarocks versioning
- rockspec metadata
the vim update.py script will check if an attribute with the vim plugin
pname exists in lua51Packages. If it does, it uses
buildNeovimPluginFrom2Nix on it, which modifies the luarocks config to
do an almost flat install (luarocks will install the package in the lua
folder instead of share/5.1/lua etc).
It also calls toVimPlugin on it to get all the vim plugin niceties.
