python3Packages.requests_oauthlib was removed and python3Packages.gpgme
is an alias; the packages are requests-oauthlib and gpg. The example
also extended old.propagatedBuildInputs, which the package does not
set because it lists its Python dependencies in dependencies, so it
failed to evaluate. Extend old.dependencies instead.
The example took typescript-language-server and typescript from
pkgs.nodePackages, which nixpkgs removed, and passed --tsserver-path,
which typescript-language-server 5.3.0 rejects as an unknown option,
so the server exited at startup. Run the top-level
typescript-language-server with --stdio only; the nixpkgs package
already falls back to the tsserver from typescript_5.
pkgs.haskell.packages.ghc784 no longer exists. Show ghc912: the option
is for building xmonad with a different GHC, and the default package
set already uses GHC 9.10.
The pinentry description told users to add pkgs.gcr to
services.dbus.packages, but nixpkgs removed it. Suggest pkgs.gcr_3,
which NixOS uses for pinentry-gnome3.
pwd-file was typed as a path, but ExecStart renders settings through
lib.cli.toCommandLine, whose default value formatter has no case for
paths, so a path literal such as ./mpd-password aborted evaluation with
"generators.mkValueStringDefault: this value is not supported".
Accept a string or a path, and render path-like values with toString,
which gives a path literal's location without copying the file into the
Nix store. Strings and derivations render as before. Add a test for a
path literal.
The network, host, and port migrations from services.mpd-mpris.mpd to
services.mpd-mpris.settings share the same prefixes and option names,
so lib.hm.deprecations.mkSettingsRenamedOptionModules expresses them
without repeating each option path. It expands to the same
mkRenamedOptionModule calls.
Add a test that sets the old options and checks the rename warnings and
the generated unit, which no existing test covered.
A non-null Connection.password is written to mpDris2.conf in the
world-readable Nix store. Explain how to supply the password through
MPD_HOST from an EnvironmentFile instead.
The settings become command-line flags in the systemd unit, which is a
world-readable Nix store file, so a password passed through the freeform
pwd flag ends up in the store. Point at pwd-file, which mpd-mpris reads
when it starts, and give pwd-file an example path.
The settings example showed a Spotify client secret, but mopidy.conf is
generated in the world-readable Nix store. Remove the secret from the
example and point at extraConfigFiles for a file managed outside the
store.
The environment option becomes Environment= lines in the systemd unit,
which is a world-readable Nix store file, and LocalAI can take its API
key from LOCALAI_API_KEY. Point at EnvironmentFile instead.
glance.yml is generated in the world-readable Nix store, and Glance
configurations can hold API tokens and authentication secrets. Point at
Glance's runtime secret substitution instead.
The generated davmail.properties is passed to DavMail from the
world-readable Nix store, and DavMail documents proxy passwords,
keystore passwords, and OAuth refresh tokens as properties. Warn
against setting them here.
mcp-config.json is generated in the world-readable Nix store, and the
example put an API key in an HTTP header. Remove the key from the
example and document env.<NAME>.file, which Home Manager reads at server
startup for local servers.
config.json is generated in the world-readable Nix store, but the
description did not warn against registry credentials or proxy
passwords. Point at Docker credential stores instead, note that docker
login still reports an error when it adds a registry to the read-only
file, and mention the helper's own store command. Also close the
unterminated link to the config.json reference.
Values in mcpServers are serialized into a generated plugin in the
world-readable Nix store, and the example put database credentials in a
DSN and an environment variable. Remove the credentials from the example
and point local servers at the file-backed programs.mcp.servers

The settings example showed a literal api_key, which ends up in

non-null client_secret is URL-encoded into the source or outgoing URL
in accounts.conf, which is a world-readable Nix store file. Say so in

The access or refresh token does not need to be in that file. The
module sets source-cred-cmd and outgoing-cred-cmd from passwordCommand,
and aerc uses the command's output as the access token, or as the
refresh token when token_endpoint is set. Say that too.
The settings example set a Discord login token, and the generated
abaddon.ini is a world-readable Nix store path. Drop the token from the
example and say so in the description. Abaddon also rewrites
abaddon.ini when it exits, replacing the file Home Manager links, and a
token set from its Discord menu is saved there, so suggest leaving the
option empty when logging in from Abaddon.

The `mpd-mpris` module used different names for the options than
`mpd-mpris` itself, causing some confusion.
Additionally, this makes some more improvements in the module, largely
based on the upstream module [^1], which includes:
- Removing the `services.mpd-mpris.mpd` namespace, it did not serve any
purpose. This also got rid of the `services.mpd-mpris.mpd.useLocal`
option, just don't configure `host` to connect to the local instance.
- Removing the `password` option, it should have never gotten into this
module because it will write the password to the world readable nix
store. A new `password-file` option was added to replace it.
- Moving the settings to a new freeform submodule under the key
`services.mpd-mpris.settings`.
- Replacing the `renderCmd` function with a use of `lib.cli.toCommandLine`.
While I diverged quite a bit from the upstream module, much credit for
these changes goes to @natsukagami!
